Royal Adelaide Show
The Royal Adelaide Show brings nine days of agriculture, competition and carnival to the Adelaide Showground at Wayville each September. Around 400,000 South Australians make the annual visit for livestock judging, the animal nursery, district exhibits, showbags, sideshow alley and evening arena entertainment.
What to expect
Running since 1840, it remains one of the state's strongest traditions, and its timing in the September school holidays makes it the family fixture of Adelaide's spring. The showground sits one tram stop south of the CBD with its own station, so the easiest arrival is by rail. Weekday mornings beat the weekend crush.
