Adelaide Festival

The Adelaide Festival has been regarded since 1960 as one of the world's great arts festivals, staging about 17 days of international theatre, opera, dance and music each March. Its centrepiece works regularly arrive direct from the world's major stages, and Writers' Week, its free outdoor literary program in the parklands, is an institution in its own right.

What to expect

Around 700,000 attendances include a strong free strand alongside the headline productions. The festival shares the city with the Fringe and WOMADelaide in March, when Adelaide is simply the busiest arts city in the country. The Festival Centre and Elder Park form its riverside heart.
