Adelaide Fringe
The Adelaide Fringe is the biggest arts festival in the southern hemisphere and the second-largest fringe in the world after Edinburgh. For 31 days from mid-February, more than 1,300 shows play across the city, anchored by the Garden of Unearthly Delights and Gluttony, the twin tent villages that turn the East End parklands into a nightly carnival.
What to expect
Total attendance passes 3.5 million, transforming Adelaide for a month. Comedy, circus and cabaret dominate, with ticket prices kept low and free street programming everywhere. The open-access model means anyone can register a show, and the garden venues on a warm February night are the festival at its best.
