Vivid Sydney

Late May to mid-June (23 nights)

Vivid Sydney is the largest festival of light, music and ideas in the southern hemisphere. For 23 nights each winter the Opera House sails, Circular Quay and the harbour precincts are transformed by large-scale projections and light installations, drawing more than three million visits across the festival.

The light walk is free, which makes Vivid one of the easiest major events in Australia to enjoy on a budget. Evenings are cool and crowds peak on weekends, so a midweek visit gives you the installations with room to breathe. Ticketed music and ideas programs run alongside the free trail for those who want to go deeper.
