Sydney Royal Easter Show
Approx. 12 days spanning Easter (late March to mid-April)
The Sydney Royal Easter Show is Australia's largest annual event, bringing the country to the city for about 12 days over Easter at Sydney Showground, Olympic Park. Around 800,000 people come for livestock judging, woodchopping, district exhibits, showbags, carnival rides and nightly arena entertainment.
It began in 1823 and remains, at heart, an agricultural show: the animal pavilions, produce displays and competitions are the real draw once you get past the rides. Plan a full day, arrive early for the animal nursery if you have children, and expect the biggest crowds on public holidays.
