First three weeks of March
Sculpture by the Sea at Cottesloe ranges more than 70 large-scale works along one of Perth's favourite beaches for the first three weeks of March. The western sibling of the Bondi exhibition, it sets sculpture against Indian Ocean sunsets rather than Pacific cliffs, and around 240,000 people walk the sand among the works.
The exhibition is free, and late afternoon into sunset is the prime visit: the light turns, the sea breeze arrives and the sculptures silhouette against the water. Cottesloe's terraces and Norfolk pines make a natural amphitheatre, with the beachfront cafes an easy finish.
