What to know before you go.
Treat the Melbourne change as a stopover rather than a tight connection: the two legs are separate tickets, so neither operator will hold a service if the first one runs late. Check the arrival time of your first leg against the departure of the second before you book either, or plan a night in Melbourne. If the journey itself isn't the point, compare the flight, which is usually far quicker once both legs are added together.
