Travel tips
What to know before you go.
Friday afternoons heading south on the M1 are the worst: leaving Brisbane between 4pm and 6pm regularly adds 45 minutes to scheduled times. Book a morning departure if you are heading down for the day and need to catch a return service. Coaches drop at Surfers Paradise transit centre, which is on the G:link light rail line, useful if you are staying further along the strip at Broadbeach or Burleigh. If you are flying out of Gold Coast Airport rather than visiting the city, take Con-X-ion from a Brisbane hotel pickup rather than getting off at Surfers and figuring out a transfer.
