Taste of Summer
27/28 December to 3 January (7-8 days)
Taste of Summer is Hobart's summer food festival, running from just after Boxing Day into the first days of January on Princes Wharf and the waterfront. Tasmania's producers, winemakers, brewers and distillers pack the sheds and lawns, and around 200,000 people graze through the week.
The festival overlaps the finish of the Sydney to Hobart, so the docks carry ocean-racing yachts, New Year's Eve energy and the state's best eating all at once. It is the easiest single window in which to taste Tasmania: one precinct, a week of summer evenings, and the harbour doing the scenery.
