Royal Hobart Show

Three to four days in late October, including Hobart Show Day (Thursday)

The Royal Hobart Show is southern Tasmania's traditional agricultural show, running three to four days at the Hobart Showground in Glenorchy each late October. Livestock and equestrian competition, the animal nursery, woodchop, showbags and sideshow alley carry a tradition of bringing the state's rural south together that dates to the 1820s.

Around 50,000 people attend, and the Thursday of show week is a public holiday across southern Tasmania. It is a classic royal show at a friendly scale: you can see the judging rings, pavilions and carnival in a single relaxed day. Spring in Hobart is changeable, so pack a layer.
