Paniyiri Greek Festival

Paniyiri is Australia's longest-running Greek festival, held at Musgrave Park in South Brisbane since 1976. Over the third weekend of May, around 50,000 people come for souvlaki, honey puffs, haloumi, Zorba dancing lessons, plate smashing and live music across two days of full-throated Greek celebration.
Brisbane's Greek community is one of the country's oldest, and Paniyiri is its open house. The honey puff stalls are the festival's icon, the cooking demonstrations teach the classics, and the dancing spills well beyond the stages. It is cheap to enter, easy to reach on the edge of South Brisbane, and best arrived at hungry.
