Noosa Triathlon Multi Sport Festival
Late October to early November (5 days, race on Sunday)
The Noosa Triathlon is the largest Olympic-distance triathlon in the world, the centrepiece of a five-day multisport festival at Noosa Heads in late October and early November. About 10,000 athletes race the 1.5 kilometre swim in Laguna Bay, the hilly 40 kilometre ride and the 10 kilometre run along the river.
The festival adds swims, fun runs, a criterium and kids' events, and around 40,000 visitors fill the town for the week. The finish precinct on Noosa Parade carries a genuine big-event atmosphere, while Main Beach and Hastings Street do the after-party. Entries and accommodation both sell out months ahead.
