Margaret River, WA · Autumn
Western Australia Margaret River Pro
Competition window of approx. 10 days in mid-to-late April
The Margaret River Pro brings the world's best surfers to Surfers Point at Prevelly each April, where big Indian Ocean swells meet one of the heaviest venues on the championship tour. The Main Break's size and power, and the nearby slab of The Box, make it a proving ground rather than a postcard stop.
Spectating from the clifftop viewing area is free, with the contest running on a roughly ten-day window called day by day on the forecast. Competition or not, the region rewards the trip: the Margaret River wine district, the karri forests and the capes coastline are all within half an hour.
