Cygnet Folk Festival

Second weekend of January (3 days)

The Cygnet Folk Festival fills a Huon Valley village with folk, roots and world music over the second weekend of January. Running since 1982, it stages hundreds of performances across halls, churches, pubs and street stages, with the town's main street becoming the festival's spine for three days.

Around 10,000 people attend, comfortably outnumbering the locals, and the village scale is the charm: everything is walkable, sessions spill into the streets, and the line between performer and audience stays thin. Cygnet sits under an hour from Hobart among orchards and water, at its best in high summer.
