Bright Autumn Festival

Late April to early May (10 days)

The Bright Autumn Festival celebrates the most photographed season in Victoria's high country. For ten days from late April, the town's avenues of European trees turn gold, red and copper against the backdrop of the Alpine ranges, and the festival adds open gardens, markets, exhibitions and community events across the district.

Around 20,000 visitors time their trip for the colour, with the Anzac Day long weekend usually falling mid-festival. Bright is also the hub of the Ovens Valley's cycling, walking and wineries, so the festival doubles as a base for the wider valley. Cold, clear mornings and mild days are the standard issue.
