Agfest
Agfest is Tasmania's great agricultural field day, run entirely by Rural Youth volunteers at Quercus Park near Carrick over three days in early May. Around 60,000 people, a remarkable share of the state's population, come for machinery, working-dog demonstrations, livestock handling, rural exhibitors and Tasmanian food and produce.
What to expect
Since 1983 it has grown into one of the largest field days in the country while keeping its volunteer-run, farm-first character. It is a working event rather than a sideshow: people come to buy utes, fencing and tractors as much as to browse. Dress for autumn paddocks; May in the northern midlands is cold underfoot.
